At ServanTek, we work with a variety of nonprofits that are doing some really great work. It’s no secret that this work requires both time and money. With very little spare time, and even less spare funds to purchase image editing software, nonprofit organizations often find it daunting to create rich, image-driven calls to action on their website. But don’t be discouraged! We’ve put together a short list of a few FREE image editing services that let you upload your images, edit them online, and download them in just a few simple steps. Not only that, but some of these sites will allow you to publish your images directly to social media. Is it time to update your organization’s Facebook cover photo? Some of these tools will crop your image to the exact dimensions of a Facebook cover photo. Others will allow you to put together image collages, which are perfect for use on social networks to share some shots from a recent fundraising event or volunteer opportunity.

Here are four of our favorite free image editing sites:

1. BeFunky.com
Be Funky is at the top of our list for a few reasons. Not only does this tool allow you to edit both images and image collages, it also allows you to share those images directly on social media like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flickr. BeFunky.com has a good number of collage options, but it also provides additional layouts for a paid subscription fee. This site allows you to use a variety of fonts provided by their tool, while also giving you the option of using any font saved on your own computer.

2. Picadilo.com
Like BeFunky.com, Picadilo.com also allows you create image collages and post your images directly from the image editor to Facebook. One nice feature of Picadilo is that all of the feature options you see are available to all users. Also, because of the way Picadilo allows you to resize the bounding boxes of the image collages, your options are virtually limitless.

3. Pic Monkey
Pic Monkey allows you to choose from a variety of textures on their site to add to your image, but it also allows you to upload your own. Like BeFunky.com, Pic Monkey also allows you to use your own fonts as well as those provided in their tool. Pic Monkey also provides a lot of great photo effect features for free, and even more for paid subscribers.

4. Photo Cat
Like Picadilo.com, Photo Cat is entirely free and offers both image editing software and picture collage software. Additionally, Photo Cat has a variety of retouching tools if you’re editing images of people, and it also provides an iPhone app for editing images on the go.

Overall, these sites are intuitive, easy to use, and feature-rich. Be sure to try them out next time you need a hero image for your website.
